Rules and regulation: Anyone participating and participants in this polar bear dip going into the sub freezing water of Kempenfelt bay will be doing so at there own risk and will take full responsibility of their own actions and safety at this public city beach where I will be doing my annual New Years Day Polar bear dip as a New Years Tradition and fund raiser.

People who participate should be of good health and should see their Doctor before attempting a polar bear dip as it may cause a quick rise in heart rate and can cause shock and awe to anyone doing so resulting in being very cold. Remember you are doing so at your own risk.

Things to know in prep for a polar bear dip:
If you decide to join me at your own risk and safety you should come prepared to be cold.
Thing you should do to prep for your dip is wear your bathing suit under your cloths and bring a housecoat to wear over you as a coat to keep warm as you make your way to the water.
Bring extra cloths to change into after if you decide to come back to my house for a hot tub and coffee.
Bring a towel to the water with you and wear slip on shoe's or boots to keep feet warm. open toe shoes are not recommended
Bring camera if you want to take pictures for proof you did the dip.

Getting ready to dip:
When you are at the waters edge, and we are ready to go, slip out of cloths to your bathing suit, pass cloths over to anyone who may be there to help or leave in pile or in bag while keeping your housecoat on. if no housecoat a large towel can be used to wrap yourself in, but a house coat is recommended as you can easily slip it on after your dip to keep warm as you head back to your car.
Now you're ready to dip! ...I will count down to go and when I do so you drop your housecoat or towel, slipping out of your shoes or boots and run in carefully (watch for stones, they hurt your feet) and when you are in deep enough, (water usually around the groin area) you can either dunk in submerging your head, (you head must go right under to be a official polar bear) or dolphin dive in like I usually do.

When you rush out of the water as most do, except me, I take my time, ( I'm a professional polar bear) grab your towel and dry off as best as you can and slip on your housecoat and shoes/boot quickly and head back to your car back to my house for a warm up hot tub to take the chill out and some coffee/tea/hot chocolate and snacks.

See you out there. :)
